Update on Objections Hearing
As scheduled, the judge held a follow-on hearing this afternoon and issued her ruling - in favor of the objections, and denying the board’s petition. She has, however, given the board 60 days to challenge sufficient individual objections to bring us below the 235 threshold - we are starting at 308 filed objections, so they would have to successfully challenge 74 of them. A challenge would consist of the board providing conclusive evidence to the court that the individual who signed the objection does not own the home. We would have an opportunity to refute such a claim, but we really hope it doesn’t come to that - it’s time to let it go.
We welcome the judge’s decision with somewhat mixed emotions. It is of course satisfying to have the judgment made in our favor, but one can’t help but feel a sense of sadness that things came to this point, and that this issue has so badly divided the community. We sincerely hope that we can now put this behind us and get back to working together towards a more united future.
As per our prior note, we will be sending out the survey in the next few days. We’ve already received several requests for the survey from people who didn’t submit an objection letter in time - our apologies to those whose doors we didn’t knock on! We are doing a few last minute tweaks to it (e.g., providing an online survey submission option) and will get it out ASAP.
