Continuing the Process
We know that the focus has been on the lawsuit, and we should have the initial ruling later today. However, we have not been idle in the meantime!
Regardless of the ruling, work continues on improving the HOA to make it more owner friendly. We spent a fair amount of time collating all the input we received from you on the mailing list, and in conversations we had with owners while canvassing for signatures on the objection petition. There was quite a bit of input! As you might expect, much of it centered on communications and accountability.
We want these next steps to be truly owner-driven, meaning that the path forward shouldn’t be defined by us or any other group - it should be defined by the owners at-large. Accordingly, we have condensed the input we received into a survey of potential areas we could focus on as a community. Our goal is to get a sense of your immediate vs longer-term priorities. Once we have those identified, we will propose formation of focus groups/committees to work on each of the identified areas.
Some will be simple directives - e.g., publish financial reports as per the covenants. This doesn’t require a committee.
Some are more nuanced - e.g., greater homeowner oversight of major decisions. This would require more work to define exactly what that would mean and how it would be done.
The survey is initially being mailed out to those who signed objection petitions - we expect to send them out in the next few days. We are sending them via snail mail because we don’t necessarily have an email address for everyone that signed a petition, so it may take a week or two to collect all the replies.
